MMP RESIDENCY on SALTSPRING
"...the point of the work (Speaking in Ligeti) is to use dance to make the music not only accessible in human terms, but to help it emerge as downright beautiful. The audience was on the edge of their seats. I don't know when we have last had such a standing ovation for "new music", never mind that blending it with contemporary dance is not exactly commonplace. Ponderous the work ain't - tender and lyrical in parts, downright funny in others, intensely emotional where it needs to be, and endlessly surprising - there is not a moment when our attention isn't absolutely engaged. Shall I go on?"
Former Artspring producer George Sipos thoughts about Speaking in Ligeti after seeing it on Saltspring. Thanks for the strong endorsement, George!
